Symptoms of Sciatica

Sciatica symptoms often start with shooting pains which can be severe or sharp.  These pains kick in when the body moves in a certain way.  The area of this pain is usually around lower back, buttock area which may then travel down the leg.

The pain can worsen with prolonged movement or prolonged sitting.  Bending in a certain way may also cause sharp pain in these areas.

Sciatica symptoms are more common in women aged between 20-60 years.

The sciatic nerve is the largest nerve in the body so if it has been upset then there will be lots of discomfort until the problem is remedied.

Take it easy, don’t overdo things.  Gentle stretchig may help. Mild pain relief treatments may also help but if symptoms are too intense or prolonged, consult with a health practitioner.

In their lifetime a women may have symptoms of sciatica a dozen times.  Sciatica is common during pregnancy or after heavy lifting.

In most cases sciatica is not serious and can be remedied within 3-10 days.
