Learn about sciatic nerve pain

Sciatica is a very common condition. There are many people all over the planet who suffer from pain in their lower back area, legs, hips and buttocks. These are the areas that are affected by sciatica. What are some of the symptoms that are commonly associated with the condition of sciatica? Pain and discomfort in the areas discussed above can come when you are experiencing sciatica. The pain from sciatica can be quite severe. You can start to lose your mobility if you do not do something about your problem.

If you want to get rid of your sciatic nerve pain there are many things that you can do. You can use ice to reduce the pain of your sciatica. You should be sure that you do this soon after you first realize that there is pain there. If you want to improve your symptoms you should also consider using heat to increase circulation. Just be careful when you are trying these treatments because you do not want to flare up the back pain.

You can get treatment for sciatic nerve pain by using triggerpoint therapy. This involved applying a firm amount of pressure onto the spot that has the pain with some sort of object such as a ball.

You can use a pillow to help to reduce the pain you experience from sciatica. Place the pillow beneath your knees and lie down on your back. This can help greatly to reduce your pain.

You can try to use hydrotherapy to ease your suffering from sciatic nerve pain. You can take a nice warm bath if you want to try to relieve your pain. Try to stay in for at least 20 minutes, but do not stay in for too long. If you experience pain from being seated for so long you can always try to take a nice hot shower instead.

Chiropractor Las Vegas NV | Spinal Decompression: The What And Why

Spinal Decompression: The What And Why Over the years, bad posture, injury and other factors can take their toll on your spine. Pain is often a result of these factors because they irritate nerve roots. Often, decompression is needed to treat the pain. One such option is decompression surgery, but some patients may not want to go under the knife. Those who do undergo the surgery will also have to endure a hefty recovery time. In addition, there are some risks associated with it. Another option is spinal decompression, a non-surgical alternative. It is a relatively new option and may offer pain relief for those who do not want to risk surgery. A doctor should be consulted to discuss all your treatment options. Some Causes of Back Pain – The vertebrae in the spinal cord are separated and cushioned by special discs. Damage to these discs can cause painful problems. One such condition is a herniated disc. A herniated disc is one that bulges and can put pressure on the nerves in the back, causing pain. Sciatica, for instance, is caused by the irritation of the sciatic nerve. During the course of time, some discs can start to degenerate and can lose their cushioning property. Without this cushioning, the compression of the spine can press down on the nerves, causing pain. Decompression is the process of removing the materials that put pressure on the nerve. This can be in the form of a surgery or a non-invasive procedure called spinal decompression. What Is Decompression Surgery? – In decompression surgery, a surgeon can perform various procedures to relieve the pressure exerted on the nerve roots. This can include removing part or all of certain bones, discs and other material that irritate the nerve. Some of the procedures that may be included in this surgery are diskectomy, laminotomy or laminectomy. While successful in many patients, there can be complications to the surgery. Infections and bleeding, as well as nerve and tissue damage are just some of the potential problems a patient could endure. It is also necessary to undergo extensive rehabilitation after surgery. How Spinal Decompression Therapy Works – Another option available to patients dealing with back pain is spinal decompression therapy. This procedure does not require surgery but endeavors to accomplish the same thing. It works to relieve the pressure that is being exerted on nerves. The process of decompression therapy starts with the patient being strapped to a table. This table then moves and stretches and decompresses the back in a fashion that is prescribed by the professional overseeing the treatment. The end result of this therapy endeavors to bring the disc back to a more original shape and relieve the pressure it may be exerting on a nerve root. It can also help to pull nutrients into the disc and allow degenerating discs to heal. While many people would like to have a non-surgical option to treat back pain, this therapy is not for everyone. Some people with osteoporosis, those who are pregnant and those with tumors may not be eligible for the treatment. Before deciding which option you want to choose, speak to a doctor and find out all you can about all your treatment options.
